Cambridge FCE Tips

Free FCE Practice Without the Usual Friction

By: Unai Baranda

Publish date:

Most sites that promise free FCE practice do the same thing. You get a few questions in, and then either a paywall appears or the site asks for an email just to see your score. It is a bit of a trap, frankly.

Cambridge Prep does not do that. No signup, no fee, and you see the result right there when you finish.

Why a no-signup simulator is useful

When you are trying to study, the last thing you want is to stop and create an account, confirm an email, and remember another password. That is how good intentions die.

Skipping all that gives you a few practical advantages. You can start immediately, you keep your personal data out of it, and you see your mistakes while the memory is still fresh rather than waiting for an email that may or may not arrive.

What is actually in the free simulator

It is built to feel much closer to the real computer-based exam than a scanned worksheet from a textbook. The parts you can practice right now include:

Use of English. Part 1 covers idioms, collocations, and phrasal verbs in a multiple-choice cloze. Part 2 is the open cloze, with no options given. Part 3 is word formation, and Part 4 is Key Word Transformation, the one that usually makes people nervous.

Reading, Part 5. These texts are academic and journalistic, and after you submit, you can see why an answer was right or wrong rather than just seeing a green tick.

A study routine that actually works

Turn your phone off, close the other tabs, and set a timer. It sounds obvious, but exam conditions matter more than people think, because reading under pressure is a different skill from reading with unlimited time.

When you are done, do not just glance at the score and move on. Go back through the mistakes and work out the rule behind the correct answer. Otherwise you will make the same mistake again next week.

Twenty minutes a day usually beats a five-hour cram session on the weekend. It is not even close.

A few questions people ask

Is this actually free? Yes, permanently, on this part of the site.

Do I need an account to see my score? No. It is calculated on the spot and shown as soon as you finish.

Is the material current? Yes. It follows the current Cambridge Assessment English structure and difficulty, and we update it when the exam changes.

Pick a section above and start. No account, no forms, just questions.
